history of slowness
slowness began with a quest for the simple life.
a pen and paper and soul-searching late at night.
what do we want out of life?
an old, wooden house with porches for friends to gather, a picket fence for rambling roses and honeysuckle, a small pond to lure dragonflies, a patch of woods to roam and experience nature, dinners under the stars with good wine and fresh vegetables and herbs from the garden.
a place where people come to find tranquility that eludes us in the modern world.
here we have it.
the beginning...
august 2004.
northern cajun country.
avoyelles parish, louisiana.
six acres.
an abandoned 90-year old structure with no doors or windows but a lot of soul.
an empty pasture and a freshly dug pond.
"There is more to life than    increasing its speed."
~ Gandhi
may 2006.
the front of the house about 6 weeks before the wedding.
the picket fence was fashioned from the old boards and created with a hand saw, a hammer, and much determination.
the porch swing is our sunrise-coffee spot and the chairs by the pond are our sunset-glass of wine spot.  if you don't have a porch swing, you are missing out on some good conversation.  we can also view the hummingbirds feeding on the gladiolus and bouganvillia, the bumblebees on the wisteria-covered arbor, the lavender, lemon balm, marigolds and rosemary ... these are the pleasures of life.
many thanks to our wonderful crew that assisted us during renovations...
