the
gardens
is it only by contrast
that we see beauty?
the organic gardens at slowness began not seperate from the structures.  the genesis was a vision in a dream, not unlike many of my paintings.  it is a living painting... the passionflowers delicate and vibrant... the peaches full of aroma, alive with texture....succulent to taste.
herbs are a cornerstone to the gardens.  you can find them not in their own space, but living among the vegetables and ornamentals.  lavender and lemon balm flourish among the marigolds and portulaccas.  mint happily fills the old clawfoot tub, and lamb's ears encircle the marjoram.
an old adage:

"if rosemary grows by the garden gate, the mistress is the master of the house"
on the morning of our july 1st wedding, the farmgirls (and a few others) gathered at slowness to gather herbs and flowers from the gardens for the reception centerpieces, the flower girl headresses, corsages and of course, the bouquet.  everything turned out beautifully thanks to all of our friends help!   (see centerpiece below)
